This is the pork shoulder I’m slow cooking. Was supposed to be a ham, but they’re all too big to fit in the slow cooker, and the leftovers would swamp our small Manhattan refrigerator. The recipe is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! - substituted nutmeg and allspice because I’ve got no cloves. Four hours on low tonight, two more hours in the morning. Serve with mashies, gravy, and asparagus with hollandaise. Only one guest. And yes, I’m a Jew cooking pork. Get over it.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Cloves are highly over rated in my cooking opinion. Good swap!

So what you're saying is that Oppo should arrive at your place by about noon tomorrow?

Welcome. And remember, the leftovers go great on a bun.

I’d say more like 3PM - you have to rest the meat, and I have to make the rest of it.

3pm. Got it!
I can bring a pecan pie. Nothing like a little taste of Texas to polish things off. :)
Heh. But seriously, sound like it's going to be delicious. Merry Christmas.

I made (“made”) a ham for spanksgiving, so it’s turkey and prime rib for Christmas this year.

I have one of the strangest spice collections anywhere - juniper berries, ras all hanout, saffron. And of course, once the pork shoulder went in, I remembered that there is a second spice rack. And there were the cloves. Still, nutmeg will be better.

We should come up with a much smaller turkey that feeds three - instant hit. Even the smallest turkey I can buy barely fits in the oven, and the leftovers are unmanageable given the size of our refrigerator.
